Default social security numbers in Excel

I have an excel spreadsheet that currently displays social security numbers
in this format. 000-00-0000. Is there a way to change that format so only
the last five digits display? example ***-*0-0000

Thank you.

Not and keep them from prying eyes.

You could use a helper column and just show those last 5 digits, then protect
the worksheet. But worksheet protection is very easily broken--so you wouldn't
want to share this file with anyone who shouldn't see the complete SSN.

Don't keep SS #s in Excel.

But if you do, don't share with people who shouldn't see them.

And make sure anyone you do share them with understands that, too.)
