Default Data showing incorrectly on line chart

I've asked this question before, but since FOR THE LIFE OF ME I can't figure
out how to bring up my previous question on the Microsoft board, I've posted
it again.

(Before I get tons of answers on how to pull it up again, let me just state
that I've probably tried them all before. I've run my screen name through
Google and found the question on other boards, but since I'm not a member of
those boards, unless I join, I can't post a question/answer there. I've run
the EXACT question through this MS board and haven't come up with a thing.
I've run my screen name through this MS board and haven't come up with
anything. On another question I purposely mispelled a word so I could search
easier but that didn't work either. I've stated my concerns about not being
able to find things again on the MS boards and not gotten good answers. So,
if someone from MS ever wants to explain how their search works, I'd love to
hear it. Until then, I'll just repost. BTW, I do ask to be notified of
replies and my email address is correct. Unfortunately, I'm not getting any
notification emails.)

I'm having difficulty with a line chart. I've got two ranges of numbers of
two types of calls (from 1972 through 2004) that goes up from 50 to 7700. My
chart's Y axis has automatically decided to show from 0 to 16,000. On the
chart itself, my data starts being placed at about 6,000 (for both 24 "F"
calls and 649 "M" calls in the year 1972) and goes up to a point above 14,000
(for a figure that should only be just above 7000). When I hover over the
points, it give me the right number, yet it shows it in the wrong place.

I've tried to change the scale of my Y axis, but when I am able to so (2 out
of 5 times) my data then goes off the chart. So I've looked at my data to
see if it's fouled up. But it shows exactly like I want it on the
spreadsheed and there are no formulas in the cells.

Any clues? I'm using Excel 2002.

And to Andy Pope who responded (found my question on another site with this
question) asking if I was using stacked line chart; I don't know. I have 3
types of data I am charting on a line chart. The line chart I've chosen in
the wizard (2nd line, first one on the left, if that helps) doesn't say
"stacked." It says, "Line with markers displayed at each data value." The
other similar looking charts do say "stacked," but this one doesn't. But it
doesn't seem to matter. I've tried the "stacked" line chart and it shows the
same way.

Any help out there?

I don't know why you couldn't find your previous question through Google.
Try http://makeashorterlink.com/?S1182184D

I found it by submitting merely
gobonniego excel
to Google (remembering to specify Groups, not Web). Google will allow more
advanced searches, but they weren't needed in this case.

Please remember, when you talk about a "board", that many of us are not
looking at a "board" but at a newsgroup. Some of you might happen to be
using a web interface to that newsgroup.

I guess that the reason why you haven't had a reply to your original query
is that without seeing your data we can't see what you've done wrong.
