Default by default text is left justified, numbers are right justified - a specific reason for this?

....is it good practice NOT to centre or left justify numbers then? is
the reason numbers are right justified by default because of alignment
issues? maybe a silly question?? thanks

I guess it's a case of making the presentation of your data look
"aesthetically pleasing".

If you think it looks OK, do what you want. It'll still add up, or
whatever.
