Default Adding Columns in Excel

I have a row that has only Y's or N's. I want to total in two other
difference cells the number of Y's and the number of N's in that row.

Any ideas?

DNA

Use a COUNTIF function for each like that below

=COUNTIF(A1:G1,"Y")
