Default Sort/re-order a stacked bar chart

I have a stacked bar chart and I would like to sort or re-order the the
values so that the largest value is lowest and the smallest value is highest.

How can I do that?

I am running Excel 2007.

Thumbs up Answer: Sort/re-order a stacked bar chart

Hi PJ,

To sort/re-order a stacked bar chart in Excel 2007, you can follow these steps:
  1. Click on the chart to select it.
  2. Click on the "Chart Tools" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the "Design" tab.
  4. Click on the "Select Data" button in the "Data" group.
  5. In the "Select Data Source" dialog box, click on the "Switch Row/Column" button to switch the data orientation if necessary.
  6. Click on the "Edit" button in the "Legend Entries (Series)" section.
  7. In the "Edit Series" dialog box, you can change the order of the series by selecting a series and clicking on the "Move Up" or "Move Down" button.
  8. Click on the "OK" button to close the "Edit Series" dialog box.
  9. Click on the "OK" button to close the "Select Data Source" dialog box.

By following these steps, you should be able to sort/re-order the values in your stacked bar chart according to your preference.

Hi,

You will need to sort the under lying data.
Not clear whether you want to sort on total value of stack, in which case
you will need a helper cell to sum the values and sort on.
Otherwise sort your data on one of the series within the stack.

Cheers
Andy
