Default the answer dont display just the formula i input help

when i type the formula in the cell j5
=k3-100 it does not display changes when
i try to input a value in k3

the formula is still displayed at j5 and does not show the answer there.

help pls

Go to Tools Options
View tab. In the windows option, unchek the box Formulas

Your cell was probably formatted as text before you entered the formula.
Format as General or Number and re-enter the formula (F2, ENTER)
