Default How do I enter a "Tick" symbol in Word or Excel?

Although there are masses of Symbols in all of Microsoft Office 2007 I
haven't found one which can be used as a "Tick" meaning "that is correct".
Any ideas out there?

Format a cell to Wingdings 2 and Alt + 0080 on numpad.

Or format the cell to Marlett font and type an "a"
